bird 3

i saw this bird when i was outside cleaning the snow and the bird i saw was a unpland buzzard. This is the largest buzzard, though it is equaled in size by the North American Ferruginous Hawk. The total length is 23-26 in and wingspan is 57-64 in. Weight is about 3 lbs on average. with both pale and dark morphs. Similar in plumage to others buzzards. Pale morph has lightly marked whitish head, nape and underparts with large brown spots irregularly distributed in upper breast and abdomen. Flanks and sides of the belly dark, tail with greyish centre and dark sides, tail bands prominently dark, with heavier sub-terminal band. Tarsi is fully (or at least three-quarters) feathered brown. Dark morph bird has the upper parts, lower body and wing coverts solid dark, with the flight feather pattern similar to pale morph.
If you notice a flock of buzzards gathered in one spot, particularly in rural areas and in or near roadways, this often signals that a dead animal is in the vicinity. Buzzards eat roadkill--the carcasses of animals that were hit by cars. Buzzards are not picky eaters and will eat just about any dead animal--possums, squirrels, rabbits, deer, domestic animals and even skunks (although they will leave the scent pouch of a skunk intact). When buzzards have a choice between fresh roadkill or a decayed animal carcass, however, they will always choose the fresh kill. There young is called chicks there only predators are other birds and humans.
